Course Objectives and Content Overview

This module is designed to introduce HR professionals to SFIA by combining technical skills and behavioural competencies into Human Resource areas. Human Resource Management has evolved from administrative oversight to a strategic partner in organizational success. Competency-based HR ensures alignment between employee capabilities and business goals, but traditional models often emphasize technical skills alone. The SFIA framework adds a behavioral dimension, clarifying how employees contribute through collaboration, leadership, adaptability, and communication. Integrating SFIA into HR systems provides a holistic, evidence-based approach that balances technical mastery with behavioral effectiveness, fostering high-performance cultures that are resilient, innovative, and strategically aligned.

Course Content

Specifically, the module aims to enable participants to:

• Explain SFIA’s structure and behavioral framework — including levels of responsibility, attributes, and observable behaviors — and apply them to HR functions.  • Integrate SFIA into competency-based HR systems to strengthen recruitment, performance management, learning and development, succession planning, and compensation practices.  • Operationalize competencies into measurable behaviors that align employee skills and workplace behaviors with organizational strategy, ensuring fair and evidence-based HR decisions.
